3rd Degree Brown Belt Techniques
Blinding Sacrifice (front two-hand choke or grab attempt)
- With opponent attempting to choke or grab you from the front, step forward with your right foot to 12:00 into a RNB as both of your arms thrust forward and to inside of his arms, first to attempt twin pokes to his eyes and continuing as two outward open hand swords to inside of his forearms (your right hand to his left forearm and your left hand to his right forearm) and without loss of motion, circle down to his groin, grabbing the testicles with both of your hands. (At this point, have your body up close to his body, acting as a body jam.)
- From the testicles execute two outward circular inward hooking back knuckle rakes to both kidneys of opponent (your right back knuckle striking to his left kidney and your left back knuckle striking to his right kidney). This move is executed and timed as you shuffle back (push drag) into a right 45 º cat stance while having both of your arms travel horizontally and into two vertical outward blocks (left outward and right outward) as a checking measure.
- Immediately shuffle in as the fingers of both of your hands flick to his eyes followed by twin thumb scoops to his eyes.
- From eyes, have both of your hands slap down on his shoulders and travel down arms of opponent, catching and grabbing his arms at the wrists to pull opponent down.
- Immediately re-circle the arms up, over, and in so that you strike his temples (or mastoids) with both of your inverted back knuckles (with your right back knuckle striking to his left temple (or mastoid) and your left back knuckle striking to his right temple (or mastoid).
- With both of your elbows raised, drop them down and in toward each other thus striking and sandwiching his jaws (with your right inside elbow striking to his left jaw and your left inside elbow striking to his right jaw).
- Grab back of his head with both of your hands and push down as your right knee kicks up and smashes his face.
- From your right knee kick have your right foot stomp to his right instep.
- Right front crossover and cover out twice toward 6:00.
Circling Fans (Right-Left Punching Combination)
- An attacker comes at you from 12:00 with a right punch.
- Step back to 6:00 into a RNB executing a right inward parry. Immediately pull your right foot to your left in a cat stance facing 12:00 as you attacker throws a left punch.
- Execute a left inward parry. [This parry will descend to the groin as a check after deflecting the second punch.]
- Execute a right front thrust kick to your attacker's groin.
- Land in a RNB executing a right back knuckle strike to your attacker's face.
- Step to 12:00 with your left foot into a front crossover executing a left vertical thrust punch to your attacker's stomach.
- Continue moving forward to 12:00. Execute a right vertical ridge hand to the underside of your attacker's right jaw executing a right thrusting knee strike to their groin.
- Land in a RNB facing 12:00 as you drop an outward hand sword on a downward plane directly onto their clavicle, or collarbone.
- Step your left foot to 12:00 in a front crossover.
10. Execute a right rear kick to your attacker's mid-section.
11. Land in a front crossover facing your attacker and cross out to 6:00.
Falcons of Force (Two-Man Flank)
- An attacker at 3:00 grabs your right shoulder with their left hand while another attacker at 9:00 grabs your left shoulder with their right hand.
- Step your right foot to 3:00 into a horse stance as you pin the 3:00 attacker's left hand with your own left hand. (This is a pinning check.) Execute a right outward hand sword at throat level.
- Step your right foot into a front crossover to 9:00 as you check his right arm by utilizing a "Chinese Waiter" with your left hand.
- Unwind executing a right horizontal slicing hand spear (palm down) to your the 9:00 attacker's eyes.
- Step your left foot to 10:30 into a rear crossover executing a left outward hand sword to your 9:00 attacker's throat.
- Unwind from your twist stance, facing 4:30 as the 3:00 attacker rushes in with a punch. Execute a right inward block and immediately follow with a right front thrust kick.
- Land in a RNB facing 4:30. Immediately step to 4:30 with your left foot into a rear crossover.
- Execute a right rear kick to the 9:00 his stomach.
- Land in a RNB facing 1:30 as the 3:00 attacker rushes in with a flurry of punches. As you land in that RNB, execute a push-down block to your attacker's punch.
10. Step your left foot to 4:30 executing an extended outward parry to the 3:00 attacker's other punch. Grab that wrist and execute a left punch to your attacker's elbow.
11. Move your left foot to 10:30 as you sweep the 3:00 attacker's right foot with your left foot while executing a left front crossover.
12. Pivot out of the twist stance (clockwise) and execute a right stiff-leg sweep to the back of your 3:00 attacker's legs to drop them, ending in a LNB facing 12:00.
13. Stop the pivot when you are in a LNB facing 4:30. Be aware of what the 9:00 attacker is now up to and cross out to 1:30, away from both of them.
The Bear and the Ram (Two man; rear and Front)
- An attacker from 6:00 puts you a bear hug, leaving your arms free, as an attacker from 12:00 comes in with a left reverse punch.
- Execute double inward hand swords to your attacker's arm, (with the left closest to you to buckle their arm) and a right front snap kick to your front attacker's knee.
- Step to 3:00 with your right foot into a horse stance executing two outward overhead elbows down into your attacker's elbow joints.
- Pull your left foot to a transitional cat stance facing 9:00. Crescent step behind your attacker with your left foot (situating the left knee behind your attacker's right knee)
- Shift into a LFB facing 9:00 executing a left outward elbow that is immediately followed by right hammerfist. The attacker should fall to 4:30.
- Execute a left hook kick to the fallen attacker at 4:30.
- Land in a rear crossover (your left foot landing to 1:30.) Execute a right side kick to your front attacker's mid-section to 10:30.
- Pivot without landing and execute a right front kick to your fallen attacker's head at 7:30.
- Land in a front crossover (your right foot landing to 4:30.) Execute a left round kick down onto your attacker's face to 7:30
10. Land in a front crossover (your left foot landing to 10:30.) Execute a right side kick low to your front attacker's knee at 10:30.
11. Cross out.
Glancing Spear (Two-Handed Wrist Grab)
- Your attacker grabs your left wrist with both of their hands from 12:00.
- Step back to 6:00 into a LNB as your right hand snakes under your own left wrist and grabs your attacker's right wrist. Continue this motion until you are in a left reverse bow as you pull your opponent to 6:00.
- Shift back into a neutral bow executing a left outward elbow to your attacker's head. (Have your right hand pull on their arm, drawing them into the strike.)
- Release your right hand's grasp and execute a right hand spear (palm down) to their eyes. [This hand spear will glance off their forearm and ricochet into their eyes.]
- Execute a left outward hand sword to their ribs as you sweep their right foot with your left foot while executing a left front crossover towards 6:00.
- Pivot out of the twist stance (clockwise) and execute a right leg sweep to the back of your attacker's legs to drop them, ending in a LNB facing 12:00.
- Without losing the momentum of the sweep, have the sweeping leg execute a right downward round kick to your attacker's head.
- Continue the motion and cross out towards 6:00.
Raining Lance (Overhead Knife)
- An attacker comes at you from 12:00 with an overhead knife strike.
- Step to 11:00 with your left foot into a LNB executing a right open-handed upward block. (Note: no matter what, make sure you are stepping out of the way of the knife strike and far enough into it to gain an Angle of Protection.)
- Begin to guide the attacker's hand downward by sliding the blocking right hand on top of the attacker's arm. Guide the attacker's in a downward motion in a straight line, thus continuing their motion. As you near the finish of the semi-circle, add the left hand to give the knife a thrust into the attacker's right knee.
- Check the knife and attacker's arms with the left hand as you collapse your right arm and execute a right inward elbow to your attacker's chest.
- Slide your right hand down your attacker's arm to continue the check executing a left inverted tiger's mouth strike, palm up, to your attacker's throat.
- Slide your left hand down your attacker's arm to continue the check executing a right eye thrust using the thumb and index finger to gouge into your attacker's eyes.
- Slide your right hand down your attacker's arm to continue the check as you pull your right foot to your left and begin the execution of a left outward hand sword just under your attacker's nose.
- As you connect with the left outward hand sword, step your left foot to 6:00 and sink to one knee, pushing your attacker over.
- Take the knife and push it into the wound, adding a twist to it. Lift it out of the wound and slice your attacker's throat in a horizontal cut moving right to left.
10. Stand in a RNB as you thrust the knife into your attacker's head. (This uses torque to gain thrusting power.)
11. Cross out.
Dominating Circles (Front - Offset Right Hand Grab To Right Shoulder)
- Standing naturally, have your right foot circle clockwise into a horse stance, planting it behind an down on his right leg to buckle it. As you circle your right leg, circle a right outward overhead elbow. In sync with the planting of your right foot, have your elbow down and on top of his right forearm. During this action have your left hand check his right shoulder.
- This sophisticated transitional buckle first travels downward, before rotating into a reverse bow that trips your opponent. As you pivot into a right reverse bow, deliver a right thrusting heel palm strike to the right side of his mandible. Your left hand is still checking his right arm. (This should daze your opponent and begin to turn him counterclockwise.)
- Have your right foot spring forward toward 10:30 into a right front twist stance. As you spring forward, deliver a left outward hand sword to his throat. Your right hand contours down his right arm, acting as a sliding check, until it grabs and controls his right wrist.
- Have your left foot step out toward 10:30 into a LNB. As you step out control/manipulate your opponent by having your left hand hook around his neck. This should further turn his head and body counterclockwise (from your point of view) so that he is face down near your left thigh. Simultaneous with these actions, have your right hand assist in turning your opponent by applying a hammer-lock on his right arm. (Your opponent is falling toward the ground.)
- Have your right foot slide clockwise toward 10:30 into a LNB (facing your opponent at 4:30). Be sure that you are in control maintenance of your opponent. Without loss of momentum, push-drag reverse toward 10:30. As you push-drag, yank his right arm toward you to dislocate his shoulder. Your left hand assists your right hand in the dislocation.
- Drop into a left close kneel, having your right knee smashing and sandwiching his face and head to the ground.
- From the point of Contact of your right knee strike, gradually ascend into a left front crossover and cover out twice toward 9:00.
Desperate Falcons (Double Wrist Grab)
- An attacker at 12:00 grabs both of your wrists with their hands.
- Step your left foot to 12:00 into a LNB as you rotate your hands counter-clockwise to get your attacker's hands off of you. (Note: Make sure on your rotation that you do not keep your hands out too far or bring them to close. In the latter, you may collapse an attacker's arm so he elbows you in the head.)
- Rotate from right to left, wrapping your attacker's arms. When you reach the left side, add a powerful thrust to get the offending hands off. Pull them in slightly and execute a right back-fist to your attacker's head executing a left vertical snap punch to your attacker's mid-section.
- Step your right foot to 12:00 executing a right upward elbow.
- Drag step your left foot to your right and step out with your right executing a right hammerfist to your attacker's groin. (As you step out, you will be thrusting into your attacker's left leg, knocking them off balance.) (An option to this would be to execute the hammerfist and then step out.)
- Move your right foot to 7:30. As you do so, execute a right obscure elbow. Land in a front crossover, and extend the elbow, executing a right back-fist to your attacker's temple.
Tripping Arrow - front two-hand choke
- Step to your left to 9:00 into a close kneel; simultaneously hooking your right palm heel to strike his left jaw and left to right jaw (lower forearms should strike his arms).
- V-step around his right leg to 2:00 and buckle it by planting heavily into a horse stance.
- Pivot to 9:00 into a LFB as you thrust your right palm heel to jaw of opponent, thus tripping him over your right leg, maintaining left grab on his right arm.
- Drop to a left close kneel and punch to groin then to face.
- Sweeping kick to face as you cross-out, right over left.
Fallen Cross - rear two-hand choke
- Step to 9:00 into a horse as you grab both of his wrists with both of your hands (right to right and left to left).
- Step to 10:00 into a RNB and pivot counterclockwise as you cross his arms at or above the elbows while facing 6 .
- Force his arms down as your deliver a right knee against the left elbow. Continue into a right front snap kick to his groin.
- Plant your right foot to 6:00, deliver a right inward elbow to face. Check low with left.
- Right front crossover and cover out to 12:00.
Returning the Storm - front inward roundhouse and backhand club
- From a RNB, drop back to 6:00 into right cat and place both arms close to your chest, as your opponent takes a step through roundhouse horizontal club strike.
- As opponent attempts to strike with a returning backhand club strike, step to 2:00 into a LNB and block with left at his right elbow joint and your right outer wrist at his right wrist.
- Grab his right wrist with your right hand and push vertically and out with your left forearm as you slide your right foot clockwise to 10:00, keeping constant pressure on his right elbow.
- Right front snap kick to his ribs.
- Plant right foot back to 10:00 and do left front crossover and cover out to 12:00.
Flashing Mace - front right step through punch
- Step to 11:00 into a LNB as you left inward block the outside of his right punch at or above the elbow. Cock your right hand above your right shoulder (palm out).
- Step forward to 10:00 into a RNB delivering a right inward horizontal knuckle rake to his right cheek bone, check with left.
- Pivot counterclockwise to 4:00 and left horizontal outward back knuckle strike to his right ribs, execute a right inward palm heel bracing check to his right upper arm.
- Follow-up with a left outward hooking check.
- As you drop into a left close kneel continue the motion of your right arm and circle counterclockwise for a right overhead back knuckle to his face or temple.
- Left front crossover and cover out to 10:00.
Hugging Pendulum - front right thrusting side kick
- From a RNB, push drag back while doing a right downward block to deflect attacker’s leg.
- Step forward with left into a front twist stance while doing a right palm heel claw to face.
- Right side kick to the back of attackers left leg. As the kick lands, do a right back knuckle to attackers kidney followed by a left inward palm heel to the left side of attackers head and a right inward elbow to left side of attackers head for the sandwich effect.
Courting the Tiger (Two Man Flank; Shoulder and Wrist)
- An attacker at 3:00 grabs your right shoulder with their left as an attacker from 9:00 grabs your left wrist with their right hand.
- Step your right foot behind your left into a rear crossover executing a looping forearm strike behind and down onto your 3:00 attacker's left elbow (crease-point) and execute a left outward elbow to your 9:00 attacker's ribs.
- Execute a right side to your 3:00 attacker's knee. Snap it back and land it in front of your left leg in a front crossover.
- Execute a rising knee strike to your 9:00 attacker's knee, lifting it off the ground. Extend the leg, executing a side kick to your 9:00 attacker's far leg.
- Land in a rear crossover with your right leg behind your left now executing a right back-fist to your 3:00 attacker's head.
- Unwind facing your 9:00 attacker and execute a front chicken kick [starting with the left and continuing with the right] to your attacker's body.
- Land in a RNB facing 9:00 executing a rising back knuckle to their face.
- Cross out and away from both attackers.
Gathering Clouds - front right step through punch
- Step to 10:00 into a LNB as your left hand parries his right punch. Simultaneously deliver a right inward horizontal knuckle rake (palm up) to his right ribs.
- Follow through with your right hand and deliver a right outward hand sword to his ribs.
- Move forward and inside his right knee (11:00) with your right leg to buckle while striking his right ribs with a right inward horizontal elbow. Keep your left hand up as a guard.
- With your right leg between his legs, do a right front scoop kick and plant your right back into a LNB to 4:00 as you do a right outward horizontal eye slice. Circle back in with a right eye gouge and a left outward palm heel.
- 5. Left front crossover and cover out to 4:00.
Thrust into Darkness (Left Rear Flank Punch)
- An attacker comes at you with a left step-through punch from 7:30, an area beyond your peripheral vision.
- Step your right foot to 1:30 and execute a left rear kick towards your attacker's stomach at 7:30. Land so you are in a LNB to 7:30 but are still facing 1:30.
- Turn into a LFB facing 7:30 executing a left and a right overhead claw that travel from the right hip following each other, raking across your attacker's face until they end up at your left hip in Chinese Hidden Fist. (Left fist at hip, palm up, right fist vertical above it.)
- Execute a right front thrust kick to your attacker's mid-section, landing in a RNB facing 7:30.
- Step into a front crossover and step out, executing a right side kick into their closest knee, landing in a RNB facing 7:30.
- Shift into a forward bow executing a right back-fist and a left vertical punch to your attacker's head. [These two strikes cross each other at the wrist, the right fist being on top. The back-fist will strike your attacker's right temple while the vertical punch will strike the attacker's jawbone.]
- Step your left foot to 7:30 into a rear crossover.
- Execute a right rear kick to your attacker's stomach.
- Land in that rear crossover and cross out to 1:30.
Gripping Talon - front left direct right wrist grab
- Step to 12:00 into a right RNB checking attackers left leg. Rotate your right wrist outward and move your left hand under his hand, grab it and pull down with left and towards you with right to overextend attacker’s wrist. You should be able to free your right hand at this point.
- Continue your counter clockwise motion and deliver a right downward hammer fist to his groin. Your left hand holds and checks his left hand near his left wrist.
- Deliver a right inward elbow to back of his left ribs and follow through.
- Follow-up with a right horizontal elbow to left ribs.
- Do a left rear crossover as you shoot a right vertical back knuckle (over shoulder) to his face. 6. Shoot a right outward back knuckle to his left ribs as you drop into a left reverse bow. Simultaneously loop your right inner wrist counter clockwise and strike back right side of neck as your left hand continues to pull on his left arm down and to your left.
- Deliver a right knee to his face, crossover and cover out twice to 6:00.
Snaking Talon - front two hand push
- Drop back into right cat, right inward hand sword to left arm into a right outward hand sword to attacker’s right arm and grab attackers right wrist.
- Pull attackers arm down and to the right while doing a right front snap kick to groin.
- With right foot still in the air, do a right front crossover to 7:30, pulling attackers arm in the same direction.
- Pivot counter clockwise and deliver a left reverse spinning back kick to his stomach.
- With back to opponent, hop on to your left leg while edging toward opponent and deliver a right back kick to any opening opponent may have, preferably the face or chest.
- Right front crossover and cover out twice to 6:00.
Circling the Horizon - front right step through punch
- Step to 9:00 with left, left inward parry his right punch.
- Circle clockwise with right, first covering past your groin area and begin to have your right foot cat toward your left foot.
- Continue to circle your right foot and your right hand clockwise and step forward to a RNB to 2:00 delivering a right vertical thrusting back knuckle to his temple.
- Cock your right arm to your right ribs and right inward horizontal elbow to his right ribs as you step to a RNB to 2:00.
- Drop into a right close kneel and right hammer to his right knee with a fist to buckle him.
- Strike up to his groin with a right ridge hand. Your left hand, still guarding.
- Right front crossover and cover out twice to 9:00.
Retreating Pendulum - front right thrusting heel kick
- While in a RNB, drop back with your right foot into a left front twist stance. Deliver a right downward block to his kicking leg and check high with left.
- Deliver a right side kick to his left inner knee.
- Plant your right foot forward to 12:00 and check high with left.
- As your block circles counter clockwise and follow-up with a right overhead downward hammer fist to his neck as you plant your right foot to 12:00.
- Pivot into a right reverse bow and deliver a right rear scoop kick to his groin.
- Right front crossover and cover out twice to 9:00. (buckle his left leg if possible.)
